Wednesday 1/25: We finished the article reading assignment today and began to fill out the "Gathering Information" worksheet. If you were absent, make sure you have at least 4 articles read and recorded in your notebook before class tomorrow. You can pick up the worksheet and instructions from me tomorrow. *Change in this week's agenda: we are going to skip our lab day tomorrow because of the talent show. I feel that we also need a few more days of pre-writing before we begin typing our essays. We'll discuss this further in class over the next few days. Tuesday 1/24: Today we chose 4 articles to read about celebrities as role models and made notes in our writer's notebook. If you were absent, you'll need to choose 4 articles and record the following in your writer's notebook: 1. Title 2. Monday 1/23: Today we filled out a self evaluation form on our presentation performance. If you were absent, come see me for an evaluation form. We read an article on whether or not celebrities should be role models in preparation for our next persuasive essay. We'll be in the computer lab later this week with a final due date of 2/2. Review 1-3 DUE Friday 1/27 TNT WORKSHEET: "Conquer Verb-Tense Inconsistency" Wednesday 1/11: Today we read a sample essay on the iPod/mp3 player prompt. We compared this essay to our own and discussed what we could add to improve our scores. 100% AR DUE Tuesday 1/10: Today we had a class debate on whether or not iPods and mp3 players should be allowed in class. Then we added one more detail or piece of evidence to support two of our reasons. Basically, you will take your narrative or your memoir that was submitted in My Access and present it to the class. If you were absent, you can pick up instructions under the "handouts" tab of this website or in the worksheet crate by my desk. You'll also need to sign up or a presentation date next week. Come talk to me to see what dates are available. Thursday 1/5 and Friday 1/6: We were in the computer lab working on our essays in My Access. Final draft due Thurs. 1/12 by 10 pm Wednesday 1/4: We finished the pre-writing guide for our iPod/mp3 essays. Tomorrow we meet in the W-lab to type up our essays.
